About Us
Protecting students. Challenging the system.
We are a dedicated research and advocacy group made up of Harmandeep Kaur, Satwinder Kaur, Kristy Hoornick, and Loriann Obajimi, united by one shared purpose: to expose, challenge, and reform the growing exploitation and over-reliance on international students in Canada. What started as a collaborative academic project evolved into a deeper movement as we recognized the urgency, scale, and human impact of this issue.
Together, we bring diverse experiences and perspectives through that strengthen our research and drive our commitment to meaningful change.
We hope you enjoy and find value in our blogs!

Our Purpose
Canada attracts thousands of international students every year with the promise of safety, opportunity, and a world-class education. But behind that promise lies a difficult reality: international students pay up to three times the tuition of domestic students, face severe housing shortages, navigate strict work and immigration rules, and often struggle without the support they were led to expect.
Our purpose is to shine a spotlight on these systemic issues, reveal how deeply they affect students and communities, and push for ethical, sustainable reforms. We believe that international students deserve transparency, dignity, and equal access—not exploitation.
